PicoWay for Pigmentation and Sun Spots: What to Expect

PicoWay is a picosecond laser used to treat pigmentation, sun spots, acne scars and tattoos. Here is how it works and what treatment involves.

How PicoWay treats pigmentation

What is PicoWay?

PicoWay is a laser that delivers energy in extremely short pulses, measured in picoseconds. Rather than relying mainly on heat, these pulses break pigment into tiny particles that the body can gradually clear. This makes it useful for sun spots, some other types of pigmentation, tattoos and certain acne scars.

What can it treat?

Common reasons for treatment include sun spots and freckles, uneven tone, tattoo removal and textural acne scarring. Not all pigmentation is the same. Some types, such as melasma, are driven by ongoing triggers and can return, so an accurate diagnosis before treatment is important.

How many sessions are needed?

Some sun spots improve after one or two sessions, while tattoos and acne scars usually need a series of treatments spaced several weeks apart. The number of sessions depends on the concern, your skin and how you respond.

What is recovery like?

Downtime is generally short. Treated spots may darken before they lighten and flake off over the following days, and some redness or mild swelling is common. Sun protection before and after treatment is important to protect your result.
