What helps
Dry, sensitive skin has a weakened barrier: it loses water easily and reacts to products, weather and hot water. The aim is to repair the barrier, not to treat the skin harder.
Wash with lukewarm water and a gentle, fragrance-free cleanser, then apply a rich moisturizer to damp skin. Fewer products, used every day, usually work best.
See a dermatologist if the skin itches, cracks or forms red, scaly patches. Eczema and psoriasis need a diagnosis and treatment beyond moisturizer.
