Glycolic Peel

Glycolic peels have become a mainstay in skincare for their ability to:

  • Exfoliate the skin
  • Even out unequal skin tones
  • Reduce acne breakouts
  • Minimize fine lines and wrinkles
  • Boost collagen production

Like other chemical peels, glycolic peels also remove the upper layers of your skin to reveal the newer, smoother skin underneath. This process stimulates collagen production, conferring more youthful and plumper facial features in the long term.

Experience with this treatment depends on the depth of your glycolic peel. A light peel takes a few minutes and creates a tingling sensation. A deep peel may take up to 90 minutes and may require local anesthesia.

Glycolic peels do have side effects, including irritation and skin discolouration, so make sure your treatment is administered by a qualified skin therapist.

More About Glycolic Peels

Who is this treatment for?

Glycolic peels are suitable for most skin tones and skin types, though results may vary for people with darker skin tones.

The best candidates for this treatment should have healthy skin with strong oil production and be older than 18 years of age. Speak with a dermatologist before proceeding with a glycolic peel if you have rosacea or sensitive or darker skin.

What are the expected results of this treatment?

You should observe clear improvements in terms of fine lines and wrinkles, acne scars, and hyperpigmentation upon receiving this treatment.

Depending on the depth of your peel, you may need some downtime to recoup from it. A light peel may induce some redness, which will take a week or so to recover. You may need to apply some soothing ointment in the meantime.

Medium peels may take up to 2 weeks to fully heal, and your dermatologist will be monitoring your healing process closely. You may take over-the-counter painkillers to manage your discomfort.

Deep peels mandate a similar aftercare process.

Glycolic peels may not be the most comfortable, but their effects are nothing short of impressive when applied correctly. This is why hundreds of Canadians have chosen Danny Guo MD for their glycolic peels; our dermatologists can apply even the deepest of peels with the highest level of safety and minimal side effects.
